Teaching Infinitives after Certain Verbs to Beginners

In this level we will see many forms of teaching this topic depending of the age of the people, that is to say, if a classroom that is for beginners with children of elementary school, we as teachers should teach infinitives after certain verbs explaining grammatical rules step by step and with their examples, but with a colorful and decorated presentation to make children interested in the class, also we have to use games that make them to participate and to be focused in class because games make that children unconsciously learn more about the topic and finally we have to apply exercises and homework about it to make sure that they have learned. Otherwise, in case of beginners with teenagers and adults, we teach them with grammatical rules with examples, most of adults and teenagers aren’t interested in the topic or they think that is hard to understand the topic so it’s valid for them to use games that make them to participate in classroom, after that we have to put exercises and homework and also we could suggest them websites with exercises about this topic to make them fun and focused on it.

There are some cases that sometimes students of any age in this level are confused using infinitives after certain verbs in the correct form because we could use them in negative form with the infinitive or with the verb before the infinitive, and before the infinitive the verb could be in simple past form or simple present form, in these cases we have to make the students memorize the structure of the sentence with these topic and put more exercises to make them sure about these kind of rules.

Teaching Infinitives after Certain Verbs to Intermediate

When we as  teachers teach this topic to teenagers or adults in this level we should consider many strategies to teach both of them, the first one is that we have to make them read all the grammatical rules and we explain each rule with their examples, then we ask them to participate (in oral or written form), then they have to answer exercises of their books including the listening form, also they could use the Internet in some websites to practice more about this topic, the computer is a very interesting device for them to make them interested of learning the structure of infinitives after certain verbs.
